Come to think of it, the Winter Talent Show got all the details right. Rather than the usual cheers or boos, audience members yelled out famous lines from the movie including, “Oh my God, Danny DeVito, I love your work!” and “She doesn’t even go here!”
On Wednesday, December 14th, BBQ Films hosted a very fetch Winter Talent Show at North Shore High School. And yes, we wore pink.
Over 350 guests showed up to Brooklyn Bazaar (lovingly transformed into NSHS for one night only) to watch their classmates show off their skills, purchase candy grams that benefitted Kind Campaign, crash the teacher’s lounge with their BFFs and watch a screening of Mean Girls. This assembly included students from every clique including freshmen, mathletes, ROTC guys, preps, both the JV and varsity jocks, the burnouts, the sexually-active band geeks, some cool moms, and, of course, the Plastics.
Rajiv Surendra made a cameo as his character from the film Kevin G. and performed the famous mathlete rap before he signed copies of his book The Elephants in My Backyard for some lucky guests. Some special ticket holders even went home with a custom Kalteen bar and a makeover from Warpaint International Beauty Agency. And every guest went home with a limited-edition poster featuring calligraphy art from Rajiv, reminding them of a very important message: Don’t let the haters stop you from doing your thang.
