We’re going to fess up. When we were young, most of what we knew about beer and hockey we learned from Bob and Doug McKenzie and the movie Strange Brew. Now, we learn all about beer from the encyclopedic mind of our friend Josh Bernstein, and everything we know about hockey may have remained about the same…
So, when Josh told us he’d chronicled the last decade’s worth of changes in the beer industry in his new book Brewed Awakening, we knew it was time for the next movie night, full of film & food & books & beer. We’re calling this event Strange Brewed Awakening!
UPDATE! We can can announce what we’re pouring on Saturday! We’ll have a bunch of Verloren and Norse Legend on hand, but the star of the show will be the brews that won the Longshot brew competition! Come drink them all for free!
For all you fans of the film, Strange Brewed Awakening will bring exactly what the heroes of the Great White North eat and drink through the film. That is, plenty of free craft beer and Longshot homebrew contest brews provided by Sam Adams (NOT the Elsinore Brewery), and piles of donuts from a shop to be announced. With the local rink being taken up with something having to do with Stanley’s cup, the next best place to see Strange Brew is in a strange space – which is why we’ll be swinging by the always awesome ACME studio for this one.
As for Brewed Awakening – if you want to educate yourself about the beer revolution, we’re offering the book as an add-on to the ticket price. But, if you want to come and take your chances that night, we’ll give you a shot at some giveaways.
One thing we can promise? You’ll leave knowing how to correctly use the term “hoser.” Tickets, which cover food, drink and the event, are only $25, and available now…
